A few words from Brendon and Kate.....
The building of Youthline's new Youth and Community Centre in Manukau is picking up speed.
We are delighted to confirm Fletchers Construction as our contractors for the building development. We have come a long way with the development of the building and are excited to be picking up the pace, beginning demolition and construction of the new building. Over the next few months you will finally be able to see the new centre taking shape!
Fletcher Building has also generously donated a range of building materials to help Youthline fully develop the vision of this centre.
Below is a picture of what the new Manukau centre will look like!

The centre will be a state of the art facility and the first of its kind to be purpose built by Youthline in conjunction with the Manukau City Council and a team of supporters. Manukau has the largest proportion of young people in the country, and our vision is to create a facility that services the needs of the greater Manukau community. We will work with other likeminded NGO and public sector organisations to deliver a range of services not only to young people, but also their fam ilies benefitting the whole community.
The Centre visions:
At the front of the centre will be a welcoming reception, community information area and youth art gallery that leads down to a cozy cafe where people can meet, relax and enjoy delicious fresh food.
The ground floor design also includes a computer lab, homework hub and we have plans to develop a youth radio station.
Office and meeting room spaces will occupy the rest of the facility and these will be used for Youthline services, community meeting spaces and service oriented tenants. We have a number of office spaces available, so if you are interested in renting a space from us in 2011 please contact us.
Services will include:
Helpline services Counselling services
Early Intervention Services - information and referrals
Parenting courses Youth health services
Youth leadership programmes
Family services Youth career services
Volunteer training Training and seminars
Youth worker services Mentoring
Further visions to come in upcoming newsletters.....
Youthline is working in partnership with a family of supporters and the Manukau City Council who are providing the land. We greatly appreciate the support from everyone involved. A huge thanks to:
