Manager's Update

Kate Duder
We are almost there! This is an exciting time with only 7 weeks until our Youthline Manukau staff and tenants are due to move into the ground floor of the new centre in Papatoetoe. Last week we celebrated this achievement with our Roof Shout event, held in the old Fire Station engine bay, soon to be cafe and hospitality area. Around 40 stakeholders including staff, volunteers, funders, contractors, neighbours and ex fire fighters attended the event and tours were arranged for those interested in getting a glimpse of the new centre and its visions for developing young people and their families in the area.
Over the next month, the design of the Manukau Hub, an integral part of Youthline’s nationwide helpline, will take shape. A small project team of staff and volunteers, will scope the design, fit out and costs of the hub’s development. As part of the process, the team have completed a review of what other agencies are doing in modern call centre and helpline environments and are creating 2-3 options to choose from.
This innovative new hub aligns with Youthline’s strategy to deliver support services to young people and their families 24/7, 365 days a year and will enable volunteering, employment and training opportunities for local young people in the area.
In addition Youthline Manukau will be building its base of talented volunteers with a range of opportunities available through the hub, events, youth advisory groups, the café and much more.
