Local charity Youthline invites the public to visit Youthline House at 13 Maidstone St. this Thursday between midday and 5pm as a part of Counselling Awareness Week.

Coffee and snacks will be provided free and Youthline counsellors and staff will be available to talk with people about the services and programmes available to them, including face to face counselling and leadership and development programmes.

From 7-9pm a public seminar on managing depression will be held at Youthline House for a $10 koha.

Counselling awareness week, from June 9-15, aims to promote an understanding of counselling and how it can benefit people.

“I think sometimes it can be hard for people to take the first step to seek support, so we want to offer people the opportunity to have a coffee, look around and find out what is available and if it is right for them, whether that be counselling or being part of one of our development programmes,” says Youthline counsellor Jayne Lowry.

Youthline offer face to face, family therapy and pregnancy counseling to people of all ages on a koha basis. They also have personal development courses to help people develop their self awareness and communication skills beginning in July. Well priced photocopying and room rentals are also available to the community.
