AIM works to provide programmes in Rodney for young adults with intellectual disabilities to transition from school and offer life skills training, community involvement, work experience, CV writing and job hunting skills.
They are fundraising to keep the one year old service operating. The North Shore Rhythmic Gymnastics team have a big fundraising project on the go, with funds collected on Saturday going towards purchasing a set of competition mats which cost between $16 000 to $32 000, in order to host the North Harbour Regional Competition in 2008.
They also hope to send three gymnasts in their club to compete in an international competition in Bulgaria in 2008.
Angela Grubb, fundraising coordinator for the Greenhithe Girl Guides says they are looking forward to the night, helping Youthline and to reach their own fundraising goals, while Coach for the Takapuna District Cricket Club Rob Ter Braak says his team are also looking forward to the concert.
Youthline has been a long standing partner of Coca-Cola Christmas in the Park and in the last six years has collected donations to fund their own work with young people and their families across New Zealand and has a supported a number of smaller community groups to raise funds.
“Youthline is about helping to develop the community, so it makes sense to partner with other organisations because ultimately we are all here to support young people,” says Youthline North Shore Coordinator Zoe Hampton.
Over 400 volunteers will be collecting for Youthline at Saturday’s event.
