Youthline Auckland Organisational Overview
Youthline has been helping young New Zealanders and their families since 1970.
Youthline has developed a unique, community-based approach to the development and delivery of services, and we are the first point of entry for young people to access a wide range of youth development and support services.
Youthline is a regionally focused, nationally linked service operating from an integrated model of evidence-based practice within a community development, training and youth development, and clinical services framework.
Youthline brings innovation and experience to its research, evaluation and advocacy functions. We are a leader in the development of the Youth Work profession and provide expert consultation and policy advice. Youthline is proud to provide leadership and partnership with the community services sector.
Vision:
Youthline’s vision is to create communities which relate to the needs of young people, respond to them, and support them to achieve their potential.
Mission:
Youthline’s mission is to build a youth-centred community that provides meaningful service with leadership development processes that are ethical, sensitive and aware of the needs of people and their environment as well as fostering honesty, responsibility and the potential of all those involved.
Values:
Youthline is a Youth Development Organisation.
Youthline is a premier New Zealand youth development organisation.
Youth development is about working from a strengths based perspective. This is about being connected, having quality relationships, fostering participation and being able to access good information.
Youthline is not just for young people at risk. Youthline provides development pathways for the many young people who want to help their peers and communities in positive, practical ways.
Youthline strives to remain relevant and effective for New Zealand youth through the valuing of ongoing growth, flexibility and actively seeking new opportunities for young people and the community.
Youth Development is Community Development. Community support is essential to the development of youth and their families. Youthline recognizes that Youth development is shaped by the ‘big picture’. This includes: the wider social and economic contexts and dominant cultural values within which young people grow up.
Youthline celebrates and values diversity. By creating dialogue and exploring our similarities and differences in age, ethnicity and culture, we pave a way forward together.
